Jesus – The One Worthy of Worship

The Bible is clear: Worship belongs to God alone.

Exodus 34:14 (KJV):
“Thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”

Yet the New Testament shows that Jesus is worshiped — not just honored or admired, but worshiped in ways that only God deserves. This proves once again: Jesus is not a mere man, He is God in the flesh.

🔥 Only God Is Worthy of Worship

Isaiah 42:8 (KJV):
“I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another…”

God does not share His worship with anyone. Angels reject worship (Revelation 22:8–9). True prophets reject worship (Acts 10:25–26). But Jesus receives it, and even commands it.

🙇‍♂️ Jesus Receives Worship in the Gospels

  1. Matthew 2:11 – The wise men “fell down and worshipped Him” as a newborn.
  2. Matthew 14:33 – After calming the sea, His disciples “worshipped Him, saying, Truly thou art the Son of God.”
  3. John 9:38 – The healed blind man “worshipped Him.”
  4. Matthew 28:9, 17 – After His resurrection, the disciples “held Him by the feet and worshipped Him.”

At no point did Jesus stop them — because He is God, and worthy of that worship.

🌌 He Is Worshiped in Heaven

Revelation 5:11–14 (KJV):
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain… Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”

All creation worships God and the Lamb — not separately, but together. Jesus shares in the eternal worship that belongs only to the Almighty.

💡 Thomas Worships Jesus as God

John 20:28 (KJV):
“And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”

Jesus didn’t correct him — He affirmed it. Thomas, a devout Jew, would never say these words lightly unless Jesus was truly divine.

🧎‍♂️ Every Knee Will Bow to Jesus

Philippians 2:10–11 (KJV):
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…”

This is a direct echo of Isaiah 45:23, where God declares that “every knee shall bow to Me.” Paul applies this to Jesus, making it crystal clear:
Jesus is Yahweh in the flesh.

📖 More Key Scriptures

  • Hebrews 1:6 – “Let all the angels of God worship Him [the Son].”
  • Luke 24:52 – After His ascension, “they worshipped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.”
  • Revelation 1:17–18 – John falls at His feet as dead. Jesus says, “I am the First and the Last… I am alive for evermore.”

Conclusion

The Bible forbids worship of anyone but God — and yet Jesus receives, deserves, and demands worship. From the cradle in Bethlehem to the throne in heaven, He is adored by angels, disciples, and all creation.

If Jesus is worshiped as God — then He must be God.
