In the Bible, names represent identity, authority, and power. God’s name is holy, exalted, and not shared with another (Isaiah 42:8). Yet, Jesus is given the very name and authority of God, and every being in heaven and earth is commanded to worship Him.
🔹 Jesus Given the Highest Name
Philippians 2:9–11 (KJV):
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
This is a direct echo of Isaiah 45:23, where God Himself says:
“Unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.”
Paul applies this divine prophecy to Jesus — showing that Jesus is Yahweh in the flesh.
🔹 The Name “Lord” (Greek: Kyrios)
In the Greek Old Testament (Septuagint), the name “Kyrios” was used consistently to translate YHWH (Jehovah/Yahweh).
When the New Testament calls Jesus Kyrios, it is not just a title of respect —
👉 It is calling Him the Lord God.
Romans 10:13 (KJV):
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
This is quoting Joel 2:32, where “Lord” refers to YHWH.
Paul applies it directly to Jesus.
🔹 Jesus Shares God’s Glory and Authority
John 17:5 (KJV):
“And now, O Father, glorify thou me… with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
Jesus possessed God’s glory before creation.
Isaiah 42:8 says:
“My glory will I not give to another.”
Yet God shares it with Jesus — because Jesus is not another being,
He is God Himself.
🔹 All Creation Will Bow to Jesus
Angels are never to be worshipped (Revelation 22:8–9),
but Hebrews 1:6 says:
“Let all the angels of God worship him.”
Worship is reserved for God alone (Matthew 4:10).
Yet Jesus is worshipped — by angels, the redeemed, and all creation.
✅ Conclusion
The name of Jesus is not just powerful — it is divine.
All heaven and earth will bow before Him,
confessing what believers already know:
✝️ Jesus Christ is Lord — not just in title,
but in very nature — God Almighty.
