Jesus – The Judge of the Living and the Dead

Only God has the authority to judge the hearts of men and the destiny of souls. The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ is not only Savior but also the Final Judge — a divine role that unmistakably confirms His deity.

📜 God is the Ultimate Judge

Genesis 18:25 (KJV):
“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

Judging the entire earth is a role God alone occupies.
This is echoed in:

Isaiah 33:22 (KJV):
“For the Lord is our judge…”

👑 Jesus Declared as the Final Judge

John 5:22 (KJV):
“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.”

Here, Jesus clearly states that He has been given full judicial authority — not as a separate judge, but as God in the flesh, carrying divine responsibility.

John 5:27 (KJV):
“And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.”

This shows that Jesus’ humanity does not limit His authority; rather, it qualifies Him to judge justly, as one who has shared in human experience — yet without sin.

🔥 Jesus Will Judge Every Person

2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV):
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…”

This verse does not say we’ll stand before a prophet or angel — but before Christ Himself, the one who knows every secret (Romans 2:16).

🕊️ Jesus Judges with Righteousness and Omniscience

Revelation 19:11 (KJV):
“In righteousness he doth judge and make war.”

Matthew 25:31-32 (KJV):
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory… before him shall be gathered all nations…”

This universal judgment scene — separating sheep from goats — is carried out by Jesus. He determines the eternal fate of all.
Who but God can do this?

👁️ He Knows the Heart and Intentions

Revelation 2:23 (KJV):
“I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts…”

Only God can search the heart and discern motives (Jeremiah 17:10).
Yet Jesus claims this for Himself.

📖 Jesus Opens the Books at the Last Judgment

Revelation 20:12 (KJV):
“And another book was opened, which is the book of life… and the dead were judged…”

The one sitting on the throne during this great judgment is the Lamb (Revelation 6:16) — a title for Jesus.
He decides who enters heaven and who is condemned.

🧠 Summary

  • Jesus is not only Savior, but also the Final Judge.
  • He has authority over life, death, and eternity.
  • Only God can judge all mankind — and that authority is clearly given to Jesus.

Jesus doesn’t merely speak for God — He IS God, the righteous Judge.
